DECEMBER 4–6, 2026
A new cinematic experience where cutting-edge technology meets storytelling.
Japan’s largest immersive film festival returns, co-hosted by the Institute of Industrial Science, the University of Tokyo, and the Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo University of the Arts.
Tokyo Immersive Film Festival presents groundbreaking immersive works showcased at leading international film festivals, including Cannes and Venice, alongside pioneering research from institutions such as the University of Tokyo and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS).
The festival brings together artists, researchers, and audiences to explore the future of immersive media and spatial storytelling. By bringing art, science, and human experience together, it transcends conventional boundaries of time and space, creating new forms of emotional connection and shared understanding.
KATABASIS, winner of the Grand Prix in the Immersive Competition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, will be presented at the festival. Director Ugo Arsac will also join us in Tokyo.
The programme will also feature works presented at this year’s Venice Film Festival, outstanding works from Tokyo University of the Arts, and many more.
